Taisuke was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, where he lived until moving to the United States at the age of 26. His first job out of college in Japan was with Olympus Corporation, a camera company. Olympus was a great innovator in optical devices for the medical field, and Taisuke helped with its research and development efforts in early cancer detection. Olympus came up with an idea for screening patients so that gastric lesions could be detected early in order to avoid cancer, and it collaborated with Tokyo University to develop a medical device for this purpose. Taisuke worked in the prototype division, which helped design the first endoscope, an optical medical device that could survey the gastric wall and find these lesions. He is proudest of his work in this field. After relocating to the U.S., he went on to manage the company’s sales division in America.
Number 1: Study hard and work hard. One thing that I have learned from my personal experience is that if you work hard and stay loyal to your passion and career, you will be on the best path to success for yourself and your company.
While working hard is very important for yourself and family, I have learned that it is most important to cherish your family and loved ones. Before you know it, years will pass by, and it is important to enjoy your life and be happy. As long you enjoy what you are doing and whom you surround yourself with, it will be the most fulfilling life for you and your loved ones.
